Hm, this looks designed to be operated by a human, without any tools (like a soldering iron), and probably cheaper than a switch.
I suspect something like a memory protect line for calibration (or something similar) perhaps?
Well, it’s quite possible 🙂 I’m just not sure when the thing that we today call a jumper came into standard use. If it was after the meter was made, then this jumper is not that much of a WTF, but if it came before that it’s a mystery why they would use this.
